This sweet little family is growing! I can't believe that just about 2 years ago I photographed big sister {as one of my very first newborn sessions}! I can't believe this little gal is already 6 months old! Where has the time gone?? Feels like yesterday we were doing her newborn pictures. Thankfully, Miss N was much more cooperative for this photo session and we had so much fun! Mom wanted to do some indoor pictures which is not my typical preference. But knowing that January weather could be very iffy in North Carolina we decided that planning an indoor session would be best. It turned out to be a beautiful weekend in NC but we still did our shoot as planned in my "mock" studio. Mom had a vision and it turned out great! Using the classic white walls and dark floors, we played Miss N up in all kinds of frilly bows, ruffles and even {real!} pearls! This sweet baby girl made her grand entrance on January 1st! What a fun birthday! I was supposed to take her picture at 6 days old but because of complications we had to push off the session for another week. Most babies at 13 days will not be so cooperative. But this gal was as perfect as perfect could be! I could have photographed her all day. :) And what a special photo session - all of her grandparents were there along with mom and dad. This adorable family contacted me to do a family session just in time for the holidays. We decided on the JC Raulston Arboretum as our venue since the family loves visiting there regularly. I had such a blast hanging out with these guys and chasing little man wherever he went! Big sister was a huge help though - I couldn't have asked for a more cooperative and sweet little girl. She posed great for her own pictures and helped corral brother into the pictures. Mom and Dad were pretty great too - running, spinning, and rolling in the grass just to get the kids to smile. :) I had a great time, W Family!

Miss G came very soon after we took her momma's maternity pictures back in September. Therefore, she was itty bitty when she was born and had to spend some time in the NICU. It is so hard to believe that our little guy was born one year ago! What a fun, hard, rewarding, stressful, and amazing year it has been. Mr. L is happiest in the morning so his Daddy and I took him out one morning to capture some first year pictures. I think we were able to capture that adorable smile and personality that he has - despite wet grass and baby deciding he can walk with the wagon (where did that come from!!???). For about 3 years now, our family has done a beach vacation with two other families from church. This year, however, one family could not go so we planned a long weekend with the K Family. Despite two teething babies (who were pretty darn cranky), we all had a great time. Each couple even got a date night! Got to love built in babysitting. :)

Mom had been wanting to do pictures of the kids and we kept getting hindered by sickness and busyness - so why not do them at the beach??!! This beautiful little girl arrived 2 weeks before Easter and I was able to take her picture at 8 days old. What a beautiful little girl. Dad is from New Zealand so they have affectionately nicknamed her "Island Princess". I just couldn't get over the thick dark hair, beautiful skin and kissable cheeks. :)

Our little guy is going to be a month old this week! Amazing how time flies! We are really enjoying him and love watching him grow.

During Levi's first few days I was able to take some pictures of him. Now I want to display them! There are so many options besides just printing out a picture and popping it into a frame. One of my favorite display options is a storyboard. These typically hold between 2-5 pictures {I tend to think an odd number of pictures looks the best} but the possibilities are endless! They look good in frames and really cool on canvas. For demonstration, this is a 10x20 that I am going to print and put in a frame for Levi's room.

Our New Addition | Apex Newborn Photographer

We have added to our own little family this past week. :) Levi Michael made an appearance on June 21, 2010 weighing in at 8 lbs. 1 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. We are absolutely in awe of God's handiwork and absolutely in love with our little boy. He isn't real fond of the camera and posing right now (a true photographer's kid!) but we were able to get a few shots this past weekend. Enjoy!

This was a present for a special Daddy for Father's Day. :) I met Mom and Miss A at the park for a "Mommy & Me" photo shoot. Isn't their little girl adorable?? Look at those big blue eyes! We had to keep these pictures a secret until June 20th so the surprise wouldn't be ruined! Hope you enjoy them, Dad!

Three months old is a hard age to photograph - you never know what their mood is going to be and they are still working on their head control. But babies definitely have acquired a personality and can be all smiles if you catch them at the right time of day! This little guy was wonderful to photograph {only needed one little break!}. Look at those big blue eyes! I had a hard time selecting which pictures to put on the blog - one was cuter than the next. :) Hope you enjoy your pictures, N Family!

The B Family are dear friends from church who were long overdue for a family portrait. Mom {being the gardener that she is!} wanted pictures with the blooming flowers so we headed to the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh. It was beautiful! This past weekend I attended a workshop in Burlington, NC which was hosted by the lovely Sara-Anne Caudle of Sara-Anne Photography. She does absolutely beautiful work so check her out! Mr. M is almost 2 years old! Time seems to be flying by! We found a cool location but unfortunately "M"wasn't in the mood for pictures. This picture sums up the session. :)

We did get some cute ones {as seen below} but "M" wanted nothing to do with camera - didn't want to look or smile at it. Oh well - we still love you!

This past weekend we headed out to western North Carolina to spend a weekend with friends. We had a great time of climbing rocks, gem mining and just relaxing! All our friends have young children and they are so wonderful to photograph in their element. Here is one of my favorites - pure joy. :)

This session was a bit special and boy did we have fun! One of my sister's good friends wanted a portrait session done while all of her family was in town for Christmas. So while we were in Maryland visiting our family, this family came to my parent's house (because it is so pretty!) and we took some pictures! Little H is acutally my one and only niece. Her mom wanted to do a mini shoot to incorporate a family heriloom - the baby rocking chair. This chair is probably going to appear in future shoots too!

This little momma is about to pop with #2! We were very anxious to get this maternity session done ASAP so that we beat Mr. A to his arrival. Despite my injury and a limited schedule we were able to get some cute pictures to remember this very eventful pregnancy. :)

PS. Mr. A made his debut this past Sunday - so we took pictures just in the nick of time!
